Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the people should not waste their time over talk of a "new government (being formed) on September 16" or of BN elected representatives switching to the opposition.
He said these only serve to divert their attention from real and important matters such as development programmes meant for the Rakyat.
"The time for politicking and campaigning is over. Now is the time to work, to unite and to fulfil the promises and mandate," he said at the breaking of fast at Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort where Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi presented donations to orphans.
He said the nation had just witnessed the recent by-election in Permatang Pauh but stressed that the "chosen government" is not affected by the result in which Pakatan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim won.
He reiterated what Abdullah had said earlier that the Government is still firm and strong.
In this respect, the people should not waste their time with trivial issues raised by the opposition, in particular Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
Musa, who is also State Finance Minister, said the Government realised the huge mandate of the people for the Barisan Nasional government is a responsibility they must shoulder.
Therefore, cooperation from all levels be it between leaders and public servants or between policy makers and implementers of the policies, must be strengthened.
This, he said, is to ensure success in the implementation of development programmes such as the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) and Sabah Development Corridor (SDC).
He said whatever the opposition had said were all lies and dirty tactics to deceive the people.
